Sara Edens Adams Stansel 92, of Lumberton, went to her heavenly home on January 17, 2012.
She was born to the late John Marvin and Mary Edens Adams on March 22, 1919. She lived most of her life at Allenton, North Carolina. Sara was a resident of Lumberton, North Carolina at the time of her passing.

The funeral will be 2:30 on Saturday, January, 21 at Chestnut Street United Methodist Church.

Sara was an active and faithful member of Chestnut Street United Methodist Church and served in many capacities but was most remembered for her years as cradle roll chairperson making sure the newborns in the church were welcomed and christened. Many will also remember her from her years with Robeson County tax department.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Charles B. Stansel, her parents and a sister, Jackie Kornegy.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Ruth Pittman and her husband O'Neal, of Liberty, Missouri; three sons: Ben Stansel and his wife Annette, of Cleveland, Tennessee, Ron Stansel and his wife Linda, of Lumberton, North Carolina, and John Stansel and his wife Loretta, of Georgetown, South Carolina. She is also survived by one sister, Mary Cheville and her husband Ed, of Charlotte, North Carolina as well as several nieces and nephews.

Surviving grandchildren are: Kenan Rader and her husband Robert, of Liberty, Missouri, Hank Pittman and his wife Andrea, of Liberty, Missouri, Jim Stansel and his wife Christy, of Cleveland, Tennessee, Pam McMillan and her husband Mike, of Spring Hill, Tennessee, Amy Glenn and her husband Justin, of Summerville, South Carolina, Paul Stansel and his wife Mercy Cannon, of Clarksville, Tennessee, Joe Stansel of Wilmington, North Carolina and Dawn Ward and her husband David, of Andrews, South Carolina.

Also surviving are great-grandchildren: McCurry and Mitchelle Rader; Neal, Harrison, Madeline and Ellie Pittman; Amanda and Steven Stansel; Zachary and Allison McMillan; Wesley and Claire Glenn; Cannon Stansel; Raven Stansel

The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:30 Saturday prior to the service in the sanctuary of Chestnut Street United Methodist Church and at other times at the home of Ron and Linda Stansel.
